Our approach started in the same way an architect's might - with a basic building block. We created a cube form that would serve as the basic building block for our logoform. We got to design and play with these blocks, building one at a time to make an endless number of combinations! It was a blast to approach the design this way, making us nostalgic for playing with Legos as kids!
Our research phase was dedicated to immersing ourselves in the world of architecture ——
As we combed through blueprints and floor plans, we found ourselves staring at the way entrances are indicated on blueprints. We found ourselves especially taken with the depiction of doors by their swing radius, and we knew that we wanted to incorporate this element somehow. The shape of the N incorporates this very subtly, with a nod that isn’t thrown in your face, but makes a subtle appearance to indicate this feature, as well as an element of welcoming and invitation. Almost to say, our door’s open.
